Summary Not interested in reports submitted to SC or related documents, says CJ Anwar Jamali

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Friday demanded a time frame from the government within a period of two weeks for carrying out census in the country, reported Dunya News.

Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali while taking suo moto notice over the application filed against census not taking place in the country, stated that the court was no longer interested in documents and also enquired whether the government was concerned about carrying out census or not.

CJ Jamali said that he was not interested in the report submitted in the Supreme Court or related documentation. He expressed his infuriation by stating that implementation was not being done upon the constitution of the country, further adding that it was not the first time that the constitution was being violated.

‘Does the federal government intend to carry out census in the country in next two hundred years?’ enquired Justice Jamali.

The two-member Supreme Court bench hearing the case dismissed it after demading a time frame from the government within next two weeks for carrying out census in the country.
