Summary Oath for not leaking names to media was to prevent circulation of negative reports: Khurshid Shah

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government and Opposition on Wednesday exchanged names for appointment of four members of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and sworn for anonymity in the media, reported Dunya News.

Dunya News received details of the meeting held between Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Opposition Leader Khurshid Shah on Tuesday at Parliament House. The details revealed that both the leaders exchanged lists of twelve members proposed by each party. Three names were suggested from every province.

According to the sources, Khurshid Shah said that the list was also handed over to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) officials. He said that the reason for taking the oath for not leaking names on the media was to prevent circulation of negative reports and publicity of these names before decided.

With respect to previous experiences, names had not been displayed in the media as the announcement of the names of appointment to key positions were vilified by media persons, which directly or indirectly affected the institution and the process itself, Khurshid Shah said.
