Summary Edhi was more deserving for the Nobel Prize than Mother Teresa, says Musharraf
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has said that the state should step up and take responsibility of Edhi Foundation, reported Saturday.
Her statement has come in after Pakistan s largest welfare organisation, Edhi Foundation s founder passed away today.
While talking to Dunya News exclusively, Yousafzai said that any award for late Abdul Sattar Edhi would not justify his contributions to humanity.
She has recommended Edhi for Nobel recognition, Yousafzai said. Malala said that the legend helped everyone sans any discrimination.
The entire nation stands with the bereaved family of late Edhi, she said adding that it is us who need to take Edhi’s mission forward and work towards making this country a better place.
Earlier in January, Yousafzai had told journalists in Birmingham, "Abdul Sattar Edhi’s services and sacrifices are unparalleled. He has been serving humanity irrespective of class, creed or gender."
On the other hand, former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf said that Abdul Sattar Edhi deserved Nobel Peace Prize during his life.
He said that Abdul Sattar Edhi was more deserving for the Nobel Prize than Mother Teresa and added that his death is a great loss to Pakistan.
