Summary Lord Nazir said that Pakistanis are stranded in Saudi Arabia and are not being paid by employers

LONDON: (Web Desk) – House of Lords member Lord Nazir Ahmed has on Monday written a letter to Saudi embassy in London urging the Saudi authorities and King Salman to help Pakistanis stranded in Saudi Arabian city of Dammam, reported Dunya News.

In his letter, Lord Nazir told the Saudi authorities that at least 500 Pakistani workers were stranded in Dammam and were not being paid their salaries for several months. He informed HRH Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf Al Saud that a company named Saad Contracting and Construction Company was unable to pay its Pakistani employees due to poor financial condition and was also not allowing them to leave their compound.

Lord Nazir further wrote in the letter that four of the stranded Pakistanis had died of heart attack during the period whereas they were not able to leave Saudi Arabia as their passports and other legal documents were in the employers’ custody despite the fact that their Iqama had expired over 2 months ago.

“Many of these unfortunate workers sold all their assets to obtain visa and travel arrangements to get a job in Saudi Arabia and consequently their families now face starvation in Pakistan”, he wrote. He urged His Majesty King Salman to help save these innocent Pakistani citizens.
