CJ takes suo moto notice as govt failed to conduct census in 18 years

Summary CJP questioned the relevant authorities for not conducting census in 18 years

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali on Monday expressed resentment and questioned why census had not been conducted since 1998, reported Dunya News.

Taking suo motu notice of irresponsible attitude of the government, CJP directed Attorney General to submit a report in this regard. Jamali questioned the relevant authorities for not conducting census in 18 years and asked the reasons for not doing so.

The court will hear the case on July 15 for which notices have been sent to Attorney General, Statistics Chief and other concerned officials.
