Summary Former US Ambassador to Pakistan met with Ishaq Dar, Aizaz Chaudhary on Saturday
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – United States Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Olson on Saturday met with Pakistan’s civil-military leaders and backed the country’s stance on border management, reported Dunya News.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department, US delegation led by Senator John McCain met with Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif. Discussion in regards to the security situation of the region along with that of Afghanistan was held during the meeting.
General Raheel informed McCain about Pakistan’s efforts regarding promoting peace and stability on the regional and global scale and emphasised that success in the war against terrorism was associated with effective border management between Pakistan and Afghanistan, adding that a stable Afghanistan was in Pakistan’s favour.
Senator McCain lauded Pakistan army’s achievements in Operation Zarb-e-Azb and stated that the success achieved by Pakistan in the war against terrorism was a replication of the country’s morale. He added that the United States and Pakistan need to improve their ties in all regards.
Earlier, Richard Olson met with Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry. Discussion regarding trade, investment, education, health and cooperation with the US in various energy-related sectors was held during the meetings.

The former US Ambassador to Pakistan discussed about the security situation of the region along with the ongoing war against terrorism and return of the Afghan refugees with Ishaq Dar. Federal Finance Minister stated that the entire Pakistani nation backed the war against terrorism.
During his meeting with Aizaz Chaudhary, Olson backed Pakistan’s stance over border management. He lauded Pakistan’s efforts in regards to economic stability and curbing terrorism.

Olson stated that the international community should not forget Pakistan’s hospitality of the Afghan immigrants that has lasted for 35 years, adding that efforts need to be made for the return of the immigrants to their country.
