Summary SEPCO suspended power supply to the central jail on Tuesday.

LARKANA (Web Desk) – An inmate has died while five others fell unconscious due to severe heat as Central Prison Larkana remains without power for the fourth consecutive day, Dunya News reported.

Reportedly, SEPCO authorities suspended power supply to the central prison on Tuesday due to non-payment of Rs27.5 million dues.

Authorities from both sides held negotiations in this regard, however, power supply could not be restored on day 4.

Six prisoners fell unconscious due to extreme heat. An inmate identified as 55-year-old Yousaf Somroo died on his way to Chandka Hospital.



The deceased was jailed in connection with a murder case.

Reportedly, the central jail has a capacity of 650 prisoners, however, there are 951 prisoners at the moment.
