Summary Closing in on murderers of Amjad Sabri, state police and Rangers leaders

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Meeting of the Apex committee commenced under the leadership of Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday and was attended by civil-military leaders. Progress made in the investigation of the murder of Amjad Sabri and the kidnapping of Owais Shah were looked upon during the meeting, reported Dunya News.

Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) AD Khawaja and Rangers Director General (DG) Major Bilal Akbar gave briefing during the meeting. The participants of the meeting were informed by the heads of the law enforcement agencies that they were closing in on the murderers of qawwali singer Amjad Sabri as police and Rangers were working together to solve the case.

It was brought to light in the meeting that the geo-fencing of the case regarding the kidnapping of Owais Shah, son of Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Sajjad Ali, had been completed. The cellphone numbers, through which certain calls were made during the kidnapping, were being traced.

It was decided in the meeting that the operation against banned outfits in Karachi will be sped up. Karachi Corps Commander stated during the meeting that a total of 2292 cameras in Karachi were inappropriate keeping in regards the metropolitan city’s security situation.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan suggested that a separate authority should be made to keep an eye over the network of cameras in the city and their functioning.

Sindh IG AD Khawaja informed the participants that Sindh police was recruiting two thousand retired army officers for the security of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. Karachi Corps Commander added that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif ensured about his cooperation in this regards.

Sindh CM stated that two thousand retired army officers would be insufficient for the security of the project. Corps Commander directed Sindh IGP to make additional recommendation of the recruitment of 600 former army personnel based upon the sensitivity of the project.
