KARACHI (Web Desk) – Two traffic police officers were gunned down near Aisha Manzil area of Karachi on Saturday, Dunya News reported. 

According to police, unknown armed men riding on a motorcycle approached the policemen and shot both of them in their heads. The deceased have been identified as Shakeel and Kamran.

Soon after the incident, heavy contingents of police and Rangers men arrived at the crime scene. Police have launched investigation into the incident. 

The Rangers as well as the police have been engaged in a three-year long anti-militant and crime operation the volatile city of around 20 million and come under attack by militants and criminals gangs frequently.

The paramilitary Rangers have been based in the city since the mid-nineties and have been an active part of the recent anti-violence campaign. Many in the police say the operation so far has been a success because murders and extortion complaints have fallen.
