Truck-bus collision in Jhang claims 13 lives, leaves 15 injured

Summary CM Shehbaz has expressed grief over loss of lives and directed to submit report as early as possible

JHANG (Dunya News) – At least 13 people were killed while 15 others sustained severe wounds in passenger bus and truck collision in Jhang today (Saturday).

According to details, the accident took place when an ill-fated bus en route to Chakwal collided with a speeding truck coming from opposite side near Nasirabad.



The mishap has claimed as many as 13 lives and injured 15 who were immediately taken to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital for medication where the doctors stated that four affectees are in critical condition.

Five of the dead people have been identified as Shakeel, Nazakat, Arshad, Azhar and truck driver Asif.



Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the sad incident and loss of lives. He has directed the hospital management to ensure proper treatment to the victims.

The minister has also summoned report of the misfortune from the authorities.



Deadly accidents are common on roads across Pakistan due to bad road infrastructure and rampant disregard of traffic laws.

Over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
