Summary Government is making agreements with foreign companies to curb energy crisis
JAMSHORO (Dunya News) – Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has drilled a new gas reserve in Kotri area, reported Friday.
Various companies are drilling in different areas of the country to discover new hydrocarbon reserves while the government is signing deals with foreign companies to curb energy crisis.
Initial results show that at least 34 million cubic feet gas is being drilled out every day.
According to the experts, the discovery would aid government’s efforts to overcome energy crisis.
In February, the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif had visited Qatar along with Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and witnessed a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) deal-signing.
Under the agreement Pakistan will import 3.75 million tons of LNG annually from Qatar which will fulfill 20 percent need of Pakistan.

First ship from Qatar, carrying 150,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) agreement arrived at the Elengy LNG terminal at Port Qasim in Karachi in March.
The cargo ship from Qatar was the largest LNG ship to dock at Elengy Terminal and one of the largest ships to arrive at Port Qasim. After docking, the LNG ship hooked up with FSRU Unit at Elengy Terminal and started re-gasification process.
All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas Association (APCNGA) welcomed the deal between Pakistan and Qatar for the import of LNG and assured that the Rs 450 billion compressed natural gas (CNG) sector would revive again.
