Karachi: Standing committee on Interior takes note of schools converted into police stations

Summary Sindh IGP ensured that all such police stations shall shortly be closed down

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) AD Khawaja has promised to curb the police stations across the province that have been formed in various schools as the matter was surfaced during the meeting of Sindh Assembly s Standing committee on Interior, reported Dunya News on Wednesday.

The meeting of the Standing committee was led by chairman Awais Qadir Shah. The participants of the meeting included Sindh IGP along with other officials. An increment of Rs 10 billion was suggested in Sindh police s budget for the next fiscal year. Committee member Imtiaz Sheikh revealed during the meeting that various police stations in the province that are located within schools need to be curtailed. Sindh IGP ensured that all such police stations shall shortly be closed down.

During the meeting, AD Khawaja admitted that police officials stationed at posts located at Sindh s borders are involved in taking bribes. Formation of 27 new developmental schemes for Sindh police was also approved in the meeting.

While conversing with the media after the meeting, AD Khawaja stated that efforts are being made for the upgradation of Sindh police.
