Summary National Assembly Speaker vowed to talk to the Prime Minister today, says Shah
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah on Tuesday has said that Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has vowed to talk to the Prime Minister (PM) over Panama leaks issue and that the government has not contacted for talks.
Opposition parties held a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq today and discussed the issue.
While talking to Dunya News, Shah said that the Speaker gave his word that he would talk to the Prime Minister today. Joint opposition’s meeting with Ayaz Sadiq came the next day of its walk out from the National Assembly against the government.
Opposition has ended boycott of the National Assembly and the Senate.
Joint opposition had walked out of assembly’s session yesterday citing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s ‘deliberate’ avoidance to answer seven questions formed by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and others.
On the other hand, PTI vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the opposition would offer its stance in the National Assembly tomorrow.
However, Leader of the Opposition in Senate, Aitzaz Ahsan warned the government of increase in number of questions if fair probe of Panama leaks is not carried out. Earlier today, joint opposition had formed as many as 70 questions demanding the government to answer those.
Separately, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has detached itself with the joint opposition in the Panama leaks issue.
Sources said that MQM would finalise its separate course-of-action against the government for probe of alleged illegal offshore companies owned by premier’s family to evade taxes.
