ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday has parted ways with joint opposition against the government in Panama leaks issue.
Sources privy to the party stated that MQM would chalk out its separate strategy for probe of Panama leaks against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family.
It was reported that the party members did not agree with opposition’s course-of-action against the government.
Barrister Saif, who represented MQM in different meetings at Leader of the Opposition in Senate Aitzaz Ahsan’s house earlier and Mian Atiq were called back to Karachi by Rabita Committee.

MQM, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Awami Muslim League (AML), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) formed an alliance against the government after Panama Papers named Sharif family for owning offshore companies.
PTI chief Imran Khan alleged leader of the ruling party of stashing wealth abroad and evading taxes using the companies. Joint opposition demanded the government to answer seven questions in the National Assembly. The questionnaire was about Prime Minister’s assets and properties in Pakistan and abroad.
The premier attended a session of the assembly yesterday after over two months and was expected by the opposition parties to answer the questions. However, opposition walked out of the National Assembly claiming that the premier avoided its questions.
Opposition parties convened a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to discuss the issue earlier today.
Reportedly, the joint opposition has now put together as many as 70 questions for the Prime Minister to answer about his wealth and earnings.
