Summary Ali was not allowed to board a flight twice at an airport following SCP verdict, states counsel
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday has adjourned hearing of case regarding re-inclusion of Ayyan Ali’s name in Exit Control List (ECL) until May 18.
Lateef Khosa, counsel for the petitioner stated that Ali was not allowed to board a flight twice at an airport following Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) verdict. Supreme Court had ordered authorities to remove his client’s name from the ECL, he added.
He alleged Interior Ministry of committing contempt of court as her name was not omitted from the list despite the order.
Additional Attorney General, offering rebuttal in the courtroom said that Ali s name was re-added to the list after a notification was issued on April 16.
Earlier Supreme Court had upheld Sindh High Court’s verdict in the case. The high court had permitted the show business model to travel abroad ordering ministry to take required steps in the matter.

Supreme Court had rejected pleas filed by Interior Ministry and Customs authorities that challenged Ali’s omission from the list.
It should also be mentioned here that in April the accused was fined USD 506,800 by Customs court, the exact amount she had attempted to smuggle in 2015.
Ali was apprehended by Airport Security Force (ASF) at Benazir International Airport in March 2015 with wads of cash worth USD 506,800. She was to board a private airline’s flight to United Arab Emirates (UAE).
