QUETTA (Web Desk) - At least two traffic policemen were killed and eight others injured when a blast hit a security check post in southwest city of Quetta on Tuesday afternoon, Dunya News reported.

Rescue officials and law enforcement personnel immediately arrived at the scene and shifted the injured and bodies to a nearby hospital.



According to police, a time bomb weighing two kilograms detonated near the check post.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the Quetta blast.

In their separate statements, they prayed for the departed souls and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families. They directed the authorities concerned to provide best possible medical treatment to those injured in the despicable incident.

Balochistan Chief Minister also took notice of the incident and directed the authorities to submit a report at earliest.

Quetta is the capital of the restive Balochistan province, which is also home to a separatist insurgency that has been raging since 2004.
