Summary Prayer was attended by Sindh CM, DG Rangers, Corps Commander Karachi, IG Sindh, other high officials
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Funeral prayer was offered Wednesday for the seven police officers who were martyred during two terrorist attacks on them while guarding WHO officials of the anti-polio drive. The prayer was attended Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah, Interior Minister Sindh Suhail Anwar Siyal, Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar, Director-General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar, Inspector-General (IG) Sindh and other high officials along with the families of the victims. A salute was also paid to the martyrs after the prayer.
Briefing the media, Sindh’s Interior Minister stated that a group had been identified on the basis of evidence found from the crime scene, adding that the terrorists belonged to a banned outfit.
Sindh IG A.D Khawaja stated that the martyred officers designated for the security of the WHO polio team had been wearing bullet-proof jackets however 3 of the officers had removed the vests due to the heat. He added that the officers had laid their lives but prevented any harm coming to the workers of the anti-polio drive.
IG Sindh further stated that the dashboard cameras fitted in the police mobile vehicle could not record the incident as these cameras are connected through Wi-Fi during rallies and events.
