Summary PPP, PTI and MQM have protested for not including amendments in the bill

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly (NA) has approved E-Crime Bill against terrorism on Wednesday according to which endorsing terrorism through internet or mobile will cause 14 years prison or Rs 500 million as penalty, reported Dunya News.

Penalty of 1 year imprisonment and fine worth Rs 100 million will be imposed in case of supporting banned outfits and hate speech. The Bill also stated that access to data of sensitive installations without permission will result 5 years of imprisonment or fine worth Rs 50 lac.

Hacking, counterfeiting e-mail or any account and unauthorised use of cellular sim- card will cause 3 years of imprisonment or fine worth Rs. 5 lac will be imposed. While interference in information statistics will also cause 2 years of imprisonment and charges worth Rs 5 lac.

The government has also announced to establish computer emergency response teams in order to counter any cyber attack on government information system.

Paksitan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have protested for not including amendments in the bill.
