Two injured in 'accidental' grenade blast in Karachi ATC

Summary Two persons including ATC's clerk and a policeman sustained injuries in the incident.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – At least two persons were injured in a grenade explosion inside Anti-Terrorism Court number 3 in Karachi today (Monday), Dunya News reported.

The accidental blast occurred when a hand grenade, which was being examined as "case property" went off inside the courtroom. The grenade had not been defused before bringing it to the court.

During the case proceeding, a policeman pulled grenade‘s pin when the ATC judge asked him how does it actually work. 

Reportedly, two persons including ATC’s clerk and a policeman sustained injuries in the incident. They were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital.



Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Meher ordered probe into the matter and directed to take action against the negligent police officer.

All activities in the court premises were suspended after the explosion.
