Summary Nisar Khuhro moved a bill pertaining to restoration of Karachi Development Authority

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) protested in the Sindh Assembly after Deputy Speaker denied permission to move call-attention notice on behalf of opposition leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan in his absence, Dunya News reported Monday.

MQM demonstrated a symbolic walkout from the assembly against arrest of party’s deputy convener Shahid Pasha.

Raza told the protesting members that the opposition leader would present the notice and not anyone on his behalf. MQM members tore copies of session’s agenda and gathered in front of Deputy Speaker’s dais.

Meanwhile Nisar Khuhro moved a bill pertaining to restoration of Karachi Development Authority (KDA). The assembly approved the bill however, rejected Muttahida s proposed amendment in the matter. The party had maintained that potential chiefs of KDA would be suggested to the mayor.

Karachi Development Authority’s governing body will comprise of nine members.

Karachi Development Authority was established in 1957 and was dissolved in 2002. Sindh Building Control Authority had replaced the development department.

The assembly also approved Sindh Factories Bill 2015 in absence of MQM members. Khuhro further moved a bill regarding employment conditions which was approved with majority votes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Functional s (PML-F) Nand Kumar, while taking about forthcoming Holi festival said that minorities should be given salaries in advance. He said that March 23 is going to be Holi however, an off-day has been given on March 24.

Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani informally asked the representative whether he would invite the members on the festival.
