Summary Musharraf was allowed by the Supreme Court to leave the country for medical treatment

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister (CM) for Information Maula Bakhsh Chandio has criticised the federation for keeping supermodel Ayyan Ali’s name on Exit Control List (ECL) while permitting former president alleged of high treason to leave the country, Dunya News reported Saturday.

Chief Minister s advisor said that he has an issue with government’s silence and not with movement of certain people in and out of the country.

On March 16, Supreme Court (SC) had lifted ban on former president Pervez Musharraf upholding Sindh High Court’s (SHC) order to remove his name from the ECL.

In a short verdict, Chief Justice (CJ) Anwar Zaheer Jamali announced that the government’s appeal had been dismissed. But he said the government or a separate court could technically pass a fresh travel ban if they provided valid reasons.

Khan said that Musharraf’s lawyers had given guarantees that he would return to Pakistan after six weeks and that he would appear in court for ongoing cases against him.
