Opposition demands govt to brief over PIA's privatization

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Opposition has demanded the government to brief over privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) before joint session of the Parliament, Dunya News reported Thursday.

A meeting of the opposition parties was held at the Parliament which was headed by Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah.

The participants discussed possible strategy of the opposition in regard to joint session and PIA’s proposed privatization.

While talking to the media, Shah said that the parties have demanded the government to give a detailed briefing over privatization of the national airline.

The opposition parties would chalk out a fresh strategy after the briefing, he added.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi complained that the government did not consider opposition’s recommendations while getting the bill regarding PIA’s privatization approved from the National Assembly (NA).

Qureshi demanded the government to keep the opposition informed with its decisions.

It should be mentioned here that Parliament s joint session over PIA issue has been called at 5 pm on Monday. Discussion over the issue will continue for three to four days.
