Summary At least nine injured in the bus attack are still under treatment

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Joint investigation team (JIT) has been formed to probe the latest terror attack that targeted a bus carrying government employees leaving 15 killed while more than 40 wounded, Dunya News reported Thursday.

The committee comprises of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel.

The team has approached Malakand administration for assistance in the probe. The committee has recorded statements of the injured who are under treatment in different hospitals including Lady Reading Hospital that deals with almost all untoward medical situations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s capital.

At least nine injured in the bus attack are still under treatment at Lady Reading Hospital.

Sources privy to police said that workers of the petrol station in Dargai where the bus was parked for an entire night before leaving for Peshawar in the morning would be interrogated along with others.

The committee has initiated collecting initials of passengers of the ill-fated bus.

On Wednesday, bomb planted near gas cylinder of a bus that was carrying government employees from Swabi and Mardan went off claiming 15 lives.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Mubarak Zaib, while talking to the media said that around eight kilogram explosives were used for the blast.

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the attack. He reiterated that terror attacks cannot deter nation’s resolve to eliminate extremism. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan instructed the provincial government to provide best treatment to the injured.

On the other hand, Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak stated earlier that the federation should deploy Frontier Corps (FC) for protection of the province and bar entrance of militants who cross Afghanistan border to attack different parts of the country.

Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani had stressed CM Khattak’s demand while talking to the media after rescue operation at the bus attack site concluded within around half an hour.

National Assembly (NA) session participants offered Fateha for the departed and condolences to the bereaved families.
