NEW DELHI (Web Desk) - Doctors of the Max Hospital in New Delhi have shifted Syed Ali Gilani, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the general ward where he is recovering.

APHC spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement issued from New Delhi said that Syed Ali Gilani was comfortable last night and had a good sleep.

He said that the ailing leader also had his breakfast in the hospital this morning.

The APHC leader was admitted at the ICU of Max hospital after he suffered breathlessness and chest pain on Thursday. Doctors at the hospital said that his condition was stable and ruled out that he suffered a heart attack.

The spokesman said that the doctors administered glucose to Syed Ali Gilani in the initial treatment following which his condition became stable.

“The doctors in the hospital conducted his many vital medical examinations including the ECG and administered him oxygen. After the test results, the doctors declared the health condition of Syed Ali Gilani as stable,” the spokesman said.

He also thanked the people for showing their concern for the APHC Chairman.

Meanwhile, Hurriyet leader, Firdous Ahmad Shah, held special prayers at Masjid Sharif in Abi Guzar area of Srinagar for speedy recovery of Syed Ali Gilani.

On the other hand, social networking sites were flooded with posts about the illness of Syed Ali Gilani and prayers for his recovery.

Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik also prayed for speedy recovery of the APHC Chairman.

“Relieved to know that Gilani Sb’s condition is stable. Praying for his speedy recovery,” tweeted Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

In a message, Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif on behalf of the people of Pakistan as well as on his own behalf prayed for full and speedy recovery of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

The Prime Minister said Syed Geelani’s indefatigable leadership is a beacon of freedom for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
