Summary The bill looks likely to be approved during discussion in the Senate, says Senator Ben Cardin.
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) – US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations’ Senator Ben Cardin, during a talk with the media in Washington, has stated that a bill for the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan will be discussed today (Thursday). He stated that the bill looks likely to be approved during discussion in the Senate.
Republican Party’s Senator, Rand Paul, had submitted a resolution against the sale earlier in February. However, Senator Cardin stated that a majority of Republican and Democrat members are against Paul’s advice.
Senator Cardin stated that he was hopeful that the bill would be approved as Pakistan needed an upgrade of its aerial combat arsenal to continue its fight against terrorism and conduct action against extremist elements at the Pak-Afghan border.
