Summary Mustafa Kamal, Dr Sagheer, Qaimkhani held press conference, Sagheer relinquished his post as MPA

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Former Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed while addressing a press conference along with former Karachi Mayor Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani on Monday announced the abandoning of his designation of Member of Sindh Assembly and joining of Mustafa Kamal’s newly formed party, reported Dunya News.

Sagheer stated that he wishes to serve the country whilst defeating all of its adversaries, further adding that the prosperity of Pakistan is linked with the prosperity of Karachi as the city serves as the jugular vein of the country. He said that he was witnessing insanity and tyranny across the country and that his conscience did not allow him to remain quiet for long, thus he decided to embark on the journey with Kamal.

Dr Sagheer further stated that Qaimkhani and Kamal made popular statements which are quite common in the people. He said that he was a victim of his inability to make decisions and to stand with what was right. “The memory of whatever I witnessed during 1992 cannot fade away and the revelations I was exposed to did not allow me to remain put any longer” he said.

He said that he was certain that conscientious individuals will enter in Kamal’s ranks in masses. While criticizing MQM, he stated that the “people gave them (MQM) with a big mandate but they gave back speeches soaked in liquor”. “Who are the parents who would listen to such speeches besides their children?” he inquired.

He further added that everything regarding RAW was considered mere accusations but everyone was stunned when the truth was exposed. He also said that the politics based on strikes and anti-national sentiments has greatly harmed the country. “MQM workers are responsible individuals and are patriots. This (Urdu speaking) community needs to be made part of the national stream” he said. He requested MQM not to utilise the party workers as “tissue papers”.

Dr Sagheer got emotional while discussing the deaths of small children and said that the corpses were reduced to bits after identifying them from their National Identity Cards (NICs). He placed the question that “what kind of politics involves holding the funerals of deceased ones in front of the Chief Minister’s (CM) House?” “If any family member of the deceased states anything out of emotions, he or she gets killed” Dr Sagheer said.

He asked the MQM leadership to respect its workers and that individuals like him are not in the party to attain some designation. He stated that the ‘mohajir card’ is being used in the province and whenever bad times fall on the party it hides behind the mohajirs.

He said that the politics of MQM’s leadership involves bloodshed in order to do point-scoring against political rivals. “At first someone is killed and then apologies are made” he stated.

Dr Sagheer abandoned his MQM and Sindh Assembly membership and apologised from his voters for not being able to deliver.
