Summary Religio-political parties protested across the country, enraged protestors attacked media personnel
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Religio-political parties protested in different cities across the country after Friday prayers while different incidents have been reported regarding attack on media houses, DSNGs and hurting media personnel including President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Rana Azeem, reported Dunya News.
Religio-political parties protested in different cities across the country including Lahore, Karachi and Hyderabad. Sunni Tehreek and different religious parties took part in the protest.
The protesters stoned several buildings on Mall Road including High Court and offices of private media houses. During the protest media personnel and President PFUJ Rana Azeem were also hurt.
On the other hand, several protesters tried to shut down Saddar market of electronics in Karachi. Wielding protesters also attacked a DSNG which was partially damaged.
The angry protesters also tortured media representatives in Hyderabad whereas police remained silent over the violence. National and international journalists’ organisations strongly condemned the violence against the journalists.
A global media organization, Safety for Editors also condemned the attacks on media outlets in Pakistan, and called it unbearable.
The organisation also demanded safety for the journalists in Pakistan and stated that the government and protesters cannot force media to air embedded transmissions
