ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will brief Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif today on issue regarding cricket team’s security in India for World T20, Dunya News reported Friday.
The Interior Minister called on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shehryar Khan and discussed the issue.
Pakistan squad is supposed to leave for India within four days however, federal minister Nisar stated that the government could not green light Pakistan’s participation until satisfactory security is ensured.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman Shashank Manohar had assured foolproof security to Pakistani team on March 1.
It should be noted here that Himachal Pradesh’s government had earlier refused to host the match between Pakistan and India in the forthcoming World T20.

The match between Pakistan and India is scheduled on March 19 at Dharamshala stadium. The two countries have not played a bilateral series for more than three years.
The statement by the BCCI chief came after Pakistan expressed reservations over team’s security there.
Security concerns between the two sides hit higher after Pathankot airbase was attacked in January in Indian Punjab. Indian state Himachal Pradesh had cited Pathankot attack as reason for not hosting the match.
BCCI is habitual of showing a perplexed behavior when it comes to series with Pakistan.
PCB chairman had visited India last year to promote cricket between the two countries. Indian authorities had invited Pakistan board’s chief to discuss schedule of a series.
However, the visit was marked by protests and violent rallies by Shiv Sena, a party that has maintained extremist approach when it comes to friendly ties.
