Summary Results would be announced within five minutes once the polling ends, claims chairman

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Polling for Lahore High Court (LHC) bar’s annual elections has begun while 15 potential candidates are contesting for four seats, Dunya News reported Satruday.

The polling is being carried out using biometric system.

A tough competition is expected between Asma Jahangir group’s Ramzan Chaudhry and Hamid Khan group’s Rana Zia Abdur Rehman. The two are contending for presidential seat.

Sardar Tahir Shahbaz, Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem, Rashid Lodhi and M R Awan are contending for vice-president seat among two others. Sharjeel Adnan Sheikh, Anees Ghazi, Jawad Ashraf and Uzma Razzaq are contending for secretary seat.

For finance secretary seat, Deeba Khan, Asad Bukhari and Amir Zeeshan are contesting the election.

A total of 21,414 voters are expected to exercise their right to vote in the bar election. Number of women voters is 1,306.

Tight security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident.

Election board’s chairman has stated that results of the election would be announced within five minutes once the polling ends.
