Summary Court has turned the report filed by the investigation officer back

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Rangers and Sindh government have once again entered a tiff in Dr Asim Hussain’s case as Rangers counsel declared investigation officer’s report ‘based on dishonesty’, Dunya News reported Saturday.

Alleged terror facilitator, former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain was presented before an anti-terrorism court (ATC).
Court has turned the report filed by the investigation officer back, terming it incomplete.

A case was registered against Dr Asim Hussain in Karachi’s North Nazimabad Police Station in November 2015 for alleged shelter provision to terrorists and target killers in his hospital.

Earlier on February 9, accountability court (AC) in Karachi sent Dr Hussain to jail on a judicial remand till February 22 in case regarding corruption, money laundering and granting illegal contracts.

Dr Asim was taken to the court by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The investigation officer Zameer Abbasi presented a two-page report to the judge, stating that the former petroleum minister was unable to provide satisfactory counter-arguments to officers during investigation.

The report alleged Dr Asim of staging shortage of fertilizers during his tenure as federal minister which cost the government around Rs 450 billion. Report further stated that Dr Asim granted unlawful favours to K-Electric.

On January 30, former petroleum minister s family had claimed that Rangers confiscated Canadian passport of the terror accused after arrest and never returned.

While talking to the media in Sindh High Court (SHC) premises, Dr Asim s family stated that the accused is a Canadian citizen. However, the passport was confiscated after his arrest.

The family alleged Pakistan Rangers of not returning alleged terror facilitator’s passport.
