LAHORE (Dunya News/Web Desk) – The Institute for Policy Reforms has released a fact sheet on employment situation in Pakistan according to which the rate of unemployment in educated people is higher than illiterate persons.
According to IPR fact sheet, between 2012-13 and 2014-15 the number of jobs created was 1.4 million which were to be 1.5 million workers per annum. The unemployment rate in educated individuals has escalated twice the rate in illiterate ones among which, one lac men are between 15 to 29 years.
The report shows that the young affectees indulged into crimes due to lack of awareness and job while the Youth Program initiated by the incumbent government has totally failed to give fruitful outcomes.
However, if appropriate adjustment is made the unemployment rate rises to 8.5 percent which is highest in past 13 years.

IPR further added that an important development is the trend towards increased labour force participation rate of women in Pakistan, which is currently one of the lowest in the world. It has risen significantly after 2008-09 by almost three percentage points, to reach 22%.
Meanwhile, the labour force participation rate for males has actually fallen by 1.5 percentage points while 14 percent reduction has been seen in child labor since 2013.
