Pakistan heading towards a prosperous future: PM

Summary The terrorists are now on the run and are striking soft targets, PM told a gathering in Davos.

DAVOS (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said Pakistan is swiftly heading towards a promising and prosperous future, the Radio Pakistan reported. 

Giving a talk on "Regions in Transformation – South Asia" in Davos, he said government has successfully addressed the challenges of terrorism, energy shortages and economic revival.

He said Pakistan has paid heavy price in the fight against terrorism in term of loss of life and property.

He said that due to successful Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the terrorists are now on the run and are striking soft targets.

Nawaz Sharif said the country s GDP growth rate was 3 percent, now it was 4.2 percent and hopefully it would cross 5 per cent rate.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a breakfast meeting with traders and businessmen at Davos today.

The Prime Minister apprised the entrepreneurs about the business and investment friendly policies of the government.

Federal Ministers Ishaq Dar, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Chairman Board of Investment Miftah Ismail, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and founder of World Economic Forum were also present in the meeting.
