KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh government on Monday declared a rain emergency as heavy showers wreaked havoc in the city. Local administration sprang into action as numerous areas of the city were flooded with rainwater.
Apart from the difficulties, citizens were delighted as temperatures dropped in Karachi due to the late night downpour.
Heavy showers were witnessed at MA Jinnah road, Numaish, Patel Para, Sadar, Tariq road, Nagan Chorangi, Sarjani Road, Federal B Area, Abu Al Hassan Isfahani Road and Gulistan-E-Johar areas of Karachi.
The city was plunged into darkness when 58 feeders of K-electric tripped after the rain. Citizens in North Nazimabad, Ancholi, Gulistan-e-Johar, Orangi Town and other parts faced extreme difficulties.
A road being constructed in North Nazimabad area sank due to the flooding. 5 vehicles parked on the road were trapped due to the mishap. Citizens towed out the cars on their own.
Local Minister Jam Khan Shoro visited the different areas of the city to observe the deteriorating situation after the downpour.
Shoro stated that the drainage systems were being looked into. Officials of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and District Metropolitan Corporation (DMC) have been advised to fix the issues on immediate basis.
