Summary Pakistan, Afghanistan hopeful for positive results out of Taliban talks, environment also favourable
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Islamabad is going to host the 4-nation meeting on Afghan peace process on Monday. Pakistan and Afghanistan have expressed hope for positive results out of the talks with Taliban while the environment also seems favourable for the process, reported Dunya News.
Pakistan will be represented by Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry while Afghanistan will be represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Hikmat Karzai. China and United States of America’s (USA) Special Representatives for Pakistan and Afghanistan will be attending the meeting for their respective countries.
Afghanistan, which had called off the talks after the news of Taliban leader Mullah Omar’s death in July, also seems ready for dialogue now. The environment in the four countries is also favourable as all 4 stakeholders seem hopeful of concrete developments.
