ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The annual growth of houbara bustard in Pakistan has climbed to 40,000 while the Arab brothers have also shown concerns over the bird’s protection in the country.

According to details, a report of an international foundation pertaining to the breed of houbara bustard has been submitted in Supreme Court (SC). In a report, it was said that the growth of the bird would be increased to 50,000 from 40,000 in this year as more than 75,000 birds have been released in the jungles.

Several nurseries and protection units have also been established in Pakistan while Arab security agencies have handed over houbara bustards to the Pakistani government.

Abu Dhabi government has also given 1000 falcons to Pakistan from 1995 to 2008.

Earlier, SC formed a larger bench for hearing the petitions filed against the ban on houbara bustard’s hunting. The pleas were filed by all the provinces, seeking to mull the decision of banning the bird’s hunt in the country.

he Supreme Court had effectively put a ban on the hunt for the bird on 18th of August of this year. The Federal and Provincial provinces had submitted several applications for review against the decision.

The government and its officials are under pressure to stop Arab royals from hunting as the smugglers have come up with new ways to deport the rare houbara bustards out of the country for keeping their business afloat.
