LAHORE (Dunya News) – Woman robbed a local of lacs of rupees after she befriended him on Facebook and later fled to Dubai, Dunya News reported Wednesday.
Ahad Butt, resident of Raj Garh met Amna Malik on Facebook around two years back. Malik had successfully ventured into online marketing business. She convinced Butt to invest in marketing as well.
The business was going just fine however, Malik had asked Butt to lend her some money from time to time. The total money lent was Rs 12 lac. Upon asking for the return, Malik handed over a car to her Facebook friend and assured him of registering it by his name within some days.
She had mentioned Faiz Ali Syed Gilani, her uncle who allegedly is a custom judge in the federal capital. She told Butt to accept the car as payment for the money he had lent her. The alleged custom judge would have the car registered by his name, she added.
Seeing the matter going nowhere, Butt insisted on registration of the vehicle as soon as possible however, she gave him three cheques and got the car back.
Little did Butt know that there was no money in Malik’s bank account.
The entire con unfolded before the victimized ‘friend’ after all the three cheques bounced. Butt has registered a case in Islampura Police Station.
The police have initiated probe in the case.

Separately, a 15-year-old Karachi girl landed up in Multan to see her Facebook friend while he did not come to receive her.
A few months back, Aleesha of Karachi’s Jinnah Colony befriended Basti Malok’s local. The two ‘friends’ promised to meet in the near future. Aleesha took a bus to Multan to see her friend as promised.
However, the Facebook friend did not come to receive Aleesha at the bus stand. She was handed over to the child protection bureau by a traffic warden. Later on, considering her age she was sent to darul aman.
The authorities said that Aleesha’s parents have been informed who would be there in Multan within a day.
