Opposition parties form alliance against Sindh govt in Rangers issue

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh opposition parties on Saturday have decided to form an alliance against the government in matter of Rangers’ special powers.

Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) have announced to form an alliance.

A meeting is scheduled today at the residence of Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi to discuss the strategy in the matter. Sadaruddin Rashidi, Ghous Ali Shah, Dr Arbab Ghulam Raheem, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and Lyaqat Jatoi will participate in the meeting among others.

The meeting will discuss opposition’s course-of-action in the Sindh Assembly and to challenge conditional resolution regarding Rangers in the court.

On December 16, Sindh Assembly had passed a conditional resolution. As per the resolution, Rangers will have to contact Chief Minister Sindh before making arrest of anyone who does not have direct link to terrorism and will need warrant before raiding a public office.

The resolution was tabled by Sindh Home Minister Anwar Sial. It was loaded with conditions for making arrests and raids.
