ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) -- At least eight militants were killed in military airstrike in the country‘s northwest tribal area of Khyber Agency on Friday.

As per details, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets pounded two hideouts of suspected militants in Tirah Valley area of Khyber Agency, a semi-autonomous tribal area along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The strike also left several militants injured.

Identities of the killed militants have not been revealed by the military, but the area is considered to be the hot bed of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan activity.

Launched in October last year, the Khyber Operation aims at the eradication of the militancy from the Khyber Agency.

Over 500 militants have been killed and more than 400 have surrendered in the operation which was conducted in two phases -- operation Khyber 1 and operation Khyber 2.
