Summary Attendants at APC arranged by QWP, JUP demanded LB polls to be held under army, Rangers supervision
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – All Parties Conference (APC) on Tuesday was arranged by Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) and Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP) and the attendants demanded holding the local body elections in Karachi under the supervision of army and Rangers, reported Dunya News.
According to details, the APC arranged by JUP and QWP was attended by Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F), Awami National Party (ANP), Jamaat Islami (JI) and various other parties.
Talking to the conference, former Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rahim said that the election commission has been hijacked by two parties after the 18th amendment. He said that he had informed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about the responsibilities of the federal government regarding good governance in Sindh.
ANP Sindh President Shahi Syed said that Karachi needs operation, not election. He said that the atmosphere of fear hasn’t really ended in the city. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naz Baloch said that the government always tried to suppress any voice that was raised against corruption, terming it to be an attack on democracy.
APC also approved many resolutions that demanded declaring the results of the first two phases of the local body elections in Sindh as void and holding the elections again under army’s supervision.
