Summary More than 25 lac pensioners are getting paid in the country: Deputy Auditor General

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Standing Committee on Finance (SCF), on Tuesday, ordered the audit of all the pensioners above the age of 80. Saleem Mandiwala chaired the meeting of SCF in which Deputy Auditor General told the members that more than 25 lac pensioners are getting paid in the country, reported Dunya News.

According to the Auditor General, the investigation showed that many of the pensioners have been died and their illegal heirs are getting the pension money. He said that a complete audit of the pensioners is necessary to make the process transparent.

Committee was also told that there had been money related frauds in other departments as well like a fraud of 5.5 lac rupees in online ticketing system of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) in 2011-12 and the theft of oil worth 60 lac rupees from Pakistan State Oil’s (PSO) pipeline in 2013-14.
