LAHORE (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday has announced re-election in as many as five union councils of Lahore on November 14.

According to sources, a key meeting to monitor security arrangements in the nominated five UCs was held in Lahore during which the Returning Officer (RO) directed the authorities to make sure that no mismanagement should occur now.

According to details, the polls on the seat of Chairman and Vice Chairman in UC-231, councilor in ward 4 of UC-185, councilors of UC-193, councilor in ward 5 of UC-162 and councilor in ward 3 of UC-86 will be held on November 14 amid tight security.

It is pertinent to mention here that the polling was halted due to misprinting of ballot papers in these UCs.

On the other hand, ECP has geared up preparations for second phase of local bodies elections in Punjab and Sindh provinces.

In Punjab, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, M.B Din, Attock and Jhelum will face electoral process.

In Sindh, District Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushehra, Feroz, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparker will hold polls in second phase.
According to details, the elections would be held on November 19.

As many as 14,685,822 voters have been registered in Punjab while about 22,691,022 locals would exercise voting right in Sindh. The both female and male voters would participate in the polling.

Moreover, at least 11,906 polling stations have been directed to be formed in this regard.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won the majority of seats in Punjab and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has secured most seats in Sindh in the local government elections, according to unofficial results.

The local polls, the first in 10 years, were held on Saturday in the twelve districts including Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Pakpattan, Okara, Lodhran, Vehari and Bahawalnagar of central province of Punjab and eight districts including Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Larkana, Shahdadkot and Jacobabad of the southern province of Sindh.
