DUBAI (Web Desk / AFP) - Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman on Saturday remarked that Pakistan’s anti-terrorism strategy is a role model for others.

He gave these remarks while addressing the seventh Dubai International Air Chiefs Conference (DIAC) in Dubai.

Sohail Aman said Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is playing a key role in dealing with non-state elements and conventional threats. He said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in its anti-terrorism operations avoided collateral damage.

PAF has played a major role in ongoing war against terrorism in North Waziristan.

The air strikes are part of a major offensive to clear Taliban and Al-Qaeda strongholds that began last year in North Waziristan, one of seven Pakistani tribal districts bordering Afghanistan.

Operation Zarb-e-Azb began in mid-June, when jets and artillery began targeting militant hideouts before ground forces moved in.

The army says it has killed more than three thousand terrorists in the operation.

Overall levels of militancy-linked violence have dropped dramatically this year, with 2015 on course for the fewest deaths among civilian and security forces since 2007 -- the year the Tehreek-e-Taliban umbrella group was formed.

Militancy in Pakistan began after the US-led invasion of neighbouring Afghanistan in 2001, which led to a spillover of militants across the border and a surge in recruitment for militant groups.
