KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Two policemen deployed to guard the lawyer in Wali Babar murder case were on Tuesday shot dead in Haideri area of Karachi by unidentified men, reported Dunya News.

According to details, the unidentified men shot dead the police officers named Aslam and Shahnawaz. IG Sindh and other senior officials of Sindh police arrived at the scene immediately after the incident. Police found 4 shells of 9MM pistol bullets from the scene.

Talking to media on this occasion, IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali said that there is progress in the investigation of the incident. He said that both the police officers were deployed on guarding the lawyer in Wali Babar’s murder case.

IG Sindh also ordered suspensions of DSP North Nazimabad and SHO North Nazimabad.

A local anti-terrorism court sentenced 6 accused in the much-talked-about murder case of journalist Wali Khan Babar to death and life-imprisonement.

In an unprecedented move, the court after a long trial announced death sentences for two accused Kamran alias Zeeshan and Faisal Moota who are still at large. In addition, four others namely Faisal Mehmood, Ali Rizvi, Naveed Polka and Shahrukh were awarded life imprisonment.

However, one accused Mohammad Shakeel was set free by the court over lack of evidence.

This case became even more critical when 6 people related to the case including key witness were also killed.

Journalists and activists have called it a historic move lauding the Pakistani investigating and judicial authorities.

Journalist Wali Babar, who was working for a private news channel, was murdered in January 2011 near Liaquatabad, Karachi when he was returning home from office.
