Summary Hurriyat leaders appreciated Army Chief General Raheel Sahrif's statement on Kashmir.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Hurriyat leaders have warmly welcomed Army Chief, General Raheel Sharif’s pointed and timely response to his Indian counterpart’s threat of a short war by saying “The armed forces of Pakistan are fully ready to thwart any external aggression.”
Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKFPL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement in Islamabad said: “The message on the Golden Jubilee of 1965 invasion by India on Lahore and Pakistan’s befitting answer on the long international border and the cease-fire line of Jammu and Kashmir and about Kashmir and its peoples’ right to self-determination reflects urges and aspirations of the Kashmiris.”
He said that at a time when India had unleashed terror and state-terrorism along the borders and inside Kashmir to curb the movement of freedom in Kashmir, General Sharif’s message looked in the right direction besides Pakistan taking India’s violations of LoC and the working boundary to the Security Council.
Hurriyat leader and the DFP Vice President, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar in his statement, appreciating Army Chief General Raheel Sahrif’s statement on Kashmir, said, “Peace in South Asia would remain a distant dream unless the long-pending dispute of Kashmir is resolved in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.”
Terming General Raheel Sharif s statement as highly encouraging, he said that the United Nations, that passed more than a dozen resolutions on Kashmir, had a moral obligation vis-à-vis the implementation of its resolutions to seek a peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute.
