Summary Recommendation of five-year imprisonment for culprits has been forwarded, says food authority

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A petition on Friday has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan stating that punishments against selling of substandard meat do not justify the heinous crime.

The petitioner maintained that unample punishments are leading to increased selling of spurious meat. However, the food authorities have submitted reply in the matter on order of Justice Ijazul Hassan.

The government officials said that a recommendation of five-year imprisonment for culprits has been forwarded to the higher-ups.
However, the court said that every citizen is fearful after continuous barrage of news from different cities is pouring in. The court instructed the authorities to implement the punishments.
