ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The exemption granted to President, Prime Minister, Governors, Chief Ministers and Ministers under article 208 has been challenged in the Supreme Court (SC) today (Wednesday), Dunya News reported.
According to details, the petitioner Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi adopted stance in his plea that under article 208 President, Prime Minister, Governors, Chief Ministers and Ministers are not accountable to any court on their use of power which is contrary to article 25 that terms all citizens equal.
The petition also stated that such exemption granted to state and government authorities is also against the rules of Quran and Sunnah therefore; SC should declare the exemption as null and void.
Federation, leader of the House and opposition, secretary law ministry and others have been made parties in the petition.
