Summary Qatari officials to visit Pakistan for LNG agreement, Pakistan to import USD 1.5bn LNG annually
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Qatari officials will be visiting Pakistan on August 26 in order to make progress on the LNG import agreement. Pakistan is estimated to import LNG worth USD 1.5 billion from Qatar annually, on Saturday reported Dunya News.
According to Petroleum Ministry sources, the LNG import agreement with Qatar is facing some delay due to the circular debt in energy sector. Qatari officials demand that Pakistan must first take measures end the circular debt so that timely payments of imported LNG can be made.
Qatar’s Petroleum Ministry delegation is coming to Islamabad to have talks on the same lines on August 26. Collectively, Pakistan will import 300 million tons of LNG annually during 15 years for 22 billion USD.
