Summary Traders and Chamber of Commerce in Islamabad have also clashed regarding the matter
FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – Enraged traders on Saturday have tortured a shop-owner for not observing shutter-down call and closed down shops forcibly.
All eight major business points of Ghanta Ghar, Jhang Road, Satyana Road remained closed today.
All Pakistan Traders Association appealed traders all across the country to demonstrate shutter-down strike. Some factions of traders have refused to follow the strike call. They have called a strike on August 5. While a faction has termed this act a conspiracy against the government. The traders have formed two factions over difference of opinion in the matter.
In Karachi, major markets including Joria Bazaar, Bolton Market, Liaquatabad and Haidri markets are closed today. However, traders of Old City areas and other markets will observe shutter down on August 5.
Traders and Chamber of Commerce in Islamabad also have a difference of opinion regarding the matter as industrialists have called a strike on August 5.
Most of the markets in Lahore and Peshawar are closed today. In Multan, traders have called a strike today and on August 5 also.
However, it is expected from the government that the matter of increase in withholding tax would soon find a consensus among sides.
