Summary Finance Minister said govt would have decided to go into elections had decision been against them
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday presented the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the government and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and said that had the judicial commission’s decision gone against the government, elections would have been announced, reported Dunya News.
Addressing the National Assembly, Finance Minister said that the agreements will have to be honored to take Pakistan forward. He said that the recent statements by the PTI leaders over judicial commission’s report are disappointing.
Ishaq Dar said that he felt aggrieved on Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s demand from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to apologize. He said that the judges are being abused by the PTI workers on social media for the last few days. “Word of mouth is enough in Islam but there was a written agreement between the government and PTI on the formation of the judicial commission. Signatures of both the parties are on the document. PTI must adhere to its agreement”, Ishaq Dar said.
“Inquiry commission’s decision is not a matter of victory or defeat”, said the minister. He asked the political parties to suggest improvements for country’s development and promised to welcome any suggestions given by the opposition. He told that the inquiry commission was formed with the consent of both the parties. “What happened during the talks for forming the commission is all documented. Had the report been against us, nationwide elections would have been held”, he added.
