94% Pakistanis disapprove of Altaf Hussain's criticism on army: Survey

LAHORE: (Web Desk, Dunya News) – Altaf Hussain’s speeches against army and other security agencies have stirred a serious controversy in the country during the last few days. Numerous FIRs have been launched against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief during the last two days on the same account while the federal ministers including Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Defense Minister Khawaja Asif heavily criticized Altaf Hussain for his speeches.

On the other hand, MQM leader Wasey Jalil claimed that the speeches made by Altaf Hussain were the ‘reflections of public sentiment’. Dunya News conducted a survey on the matter and senior anchor person Kamran Shahid held a survey on his show ‘On the Front’ on Tuesday in which he questioned whether the people approved of Altaf Hussain’s speeches or not.

A staggering 94% said NO, they did not support the speeches made against the national security institutions.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Zaidi criticized the MQM heavily. He showed a ‘Fitrana’ receipt on the show, saying that it was brought to him by another person who claimed that though this was a Rs. 100 receipt but Rs. 5000 were also demanded in return for his life.  He also called for banning the MQM and requested the news channels to not to telecast Altaf Hussain’s speeches.

Dunya TV also conducted the survey on its Facebook page and received enormous response from the public. Most of the people denounced Altaf Hussain’s remarks in comments. The post is still open for comments and opinions can be shared.
